An AI fitness coach that knows your training
Daily Workout's AI coach answers training questions on demand: form, recovery, plateaus, how to structure your week, or a push when you don't feel like it. Because it knows your streak, history and goal, the answers are about you, not a generic athlete.
What the coach is for
There are two moments when people most need a coach: before a session ("what should I do?") and between sessions ("is this normal? what next?"). Daily Workout's AI covers both.
Before: with Premium, today's workout is waiting when you open the app, built around your goal, level, what you've trained this week and how you said you felt (how that works).
Between: the AI coach is on demand. Ask anything, any time, and get an answer that takes your streak, history and goal into account.
Good questions to ask
- Form: "How do I keep my back flat in a Romanian deadlift?" "Where should I feel a glute bridge?"
- Recovery: "My legs are sore from Tuesday. Should I train today?" "What should a rest day look like?"
- Plateaus: "My runs have felt the same for a month. What should I change?"
- Structure: I can train three days a week for 30 minutes. How should I split it?
- Time: "I have 15 minutes and a pair of dumbbells. What's worth doing?"
- Motivation: "I don't feel like it today." Sometimes the best answer is a smaller workout, not a pep talk.
Why context matters
A generic chatbot answers for an imaginary average person. A coach that knows you're on a 21-day streak, trained legs yesterday, usually skips Fridays and is aiming to get stronger gives a different, better answer to "what should I do today?"
That context comes from what you log in one tap and, with Premium, from the history you import from Apple Health. The more you show up, the more useful the coach gets.
What it won't do
Honest limits matter with any AI, and especially with exercise:
- It can't see you. Form advice is general. If something feels wrong, film yourself, ask a qualified trainer, or choose an easier variation.
- It isn't medical advice. It won't diagnose pain or injuries, and it shouldn't. Persistent pain, chest discomfort, dizziness or breathlessness are reasons to see a doctor, not to ask an app.
- It can be wrong. AI answers can sound confident and still be off. Use your judgment, and skip anything that doesn't feel right.
- It isn't for emergencies. Call your local emergency number.
Coach + streak: the point of it all
Advice only helps if you act on it. That's why the coach sits inside a simple loop: see today's workout, do it, tap Done, keep the streak. If you're coming back after time away, ask the coach to keep things short for the first two weeks. Our guide to getting back into working out after a break explains why.
How to get better answers
The quality of an answer depends a lot on the question. A few habits help:
- Be specific about time and equipment. "20 minutes, two dumbbells, a small flat" gets a far better plan than "a quick workout".
- Say how you feel. Tired, sore, stressed or fresh changes the right answer, and the coach can use it.
- Name the goal. Stronger, fitter for a hike, more consistent, back after a break: each leads to a different week.
- Ask why. If a suggestion seems odd, ask the coach to explain it. You'll learn more and spot mistakes faster.
- Follow up after the session. Telling it what felt easy or hard helps the next answer, and you'll build a habit of reflecting on your training.
Privacy, briefly
To answer, the coach sends the information it needs, such as your question, goal and recent workouts, to an AI service provider that processes it on our behalf. Please don't type medical details or other people's personal information. The privacy policy explains what's collected and why.
Example: a 30-minute week planner
Ask something like: three days, 30 minutes each, stronger plus some cardio. A sensible answer looks like:
| Day | Session | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Monday | Full-body strength: squat, push, pull, core | Fresh legs at the start of the week |
| Wednesday | 20 minutes of intervals, 10 minutes of mobility | Cardio without heavy legs |
| Saturday | Full-body strength, different variations | Repeat the main lifts, add variety |
Pick those three days in the app, and the other four become planned rest days that keep your streak (Premium).
Questions
What can I ask the AI coach?
Training questions: how to do a movement with good form, how to recover between sessions, how to break a plateau, how to structure your week, what to do when you are short on time, or how to get going when motivation is low.
Does the coach know my workouts?
Yes. The coach knows your streak, your history and your goal, so it can answer in the context of your actual training.
Is the AI coach a replacement for a personal trainer or doctor?
No. It is a convenient source of general fitness guidance. It cannot see you move, does not know your full health history and can be wrong. For pain, injuries or medical questions, see a qualified professional.
Is the AI coach free?
The unlimited AI coach is part of Premium, which is $4.99 a month or $29.99 a year on the US App Store and starts with a 7-day free trial.
Does the coach build my workouts too?
Yes. With Premium, today's workout is generated by your AI coach around your goal, level and recent training. You can swap it or mark a rest day.
This page is general fitness information, not medical advice. Check with a doctor before starting a new exercise program, especially if you have a health condition, are pregnant or have been inactive for a long time. Stop if you feel pain, dizziness or chest discomfort.
